Best US Open finish: 1st, 2015 Finish in 2004: DNP
The three-time major champion has proven he can win anywhere. His victory in the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale illustrated just how deep his mental reserves stretch. His typically impressive putting stroke (1st, 1st and 2nd in average putts per hole the last three years) has looked shaky this year (151st in average putts per hole, and 183rd in SG: Putting), but as his performance at the Masters demonstrated (1.62 putts per hole), he can turn it around in a hurry. Second in the PGA Tour’s SG: Tee to Green category, Spieth will likely find lots of Shinnecock’s greens. And if putts like he did at Augusta, he’ll challenge for his second US Open title.
