EMBRACE THE STRUGGLES
Justin’s influence really stepped in when I was struggling. I made only one cut in something like 15 events when I turned pro (in 2015). I was finding it difficult to motivate myself and Justin was adamant that he never stopped loving the game even when he missed 21 cuts at the start of his pro career. He said he always enjoyed the chance to improve every day and it’s so true. Tomorrow is an opportunity to be a better person than you are today. The golf you’re playing can’t affect the person you are and your mood. Good golf shouldn’t make you happy and bad golf shouldn’t make you sad. You’ve got to be happy because you’re doing something you love as a job. That was the most vital piece of advice he’s given me. It got me through a bad patch to where I am now on the European Tour.
