SET THE RIGHT SCHEDULE
My manager Paul McDonnell (who also manages Justin) persuaded me not to do US Open qualifying because we didn’t think it would be good to play another 36 holes in a day after four tournaments in a row. My focus has to be on the European Tour as this is my first season at that level. If I qualified it would be great but then I’d miss out on European Tour events and it would affect my preparation for the French, Irish and Scottish Opens, which are three big events in a row that I want to be peaking for. We did the same last year when I focused on the Challenge Tour rather than pursuing an invite for the Dunhill and I finished the season strongly to earn my European Tour card. Paul knows what worked for Justin and he’s strong enough to show me the bigger picture.
