Five new members will be enshrined into the World Golf Hall of Fame during June’s US Open.
PEGGY KIRK BELL Lifetime Achievement
Successful amateur career included winning 1949 Titleholders Championship and participation on a winning 1950 Curtis Cup team. Became a charter member of the LPGA in 1950.
RETIEF GOOSEN Male Competitor
33 wins including two US Opens in 2001 and 2004. Led the European Tour Order of Merit in 2001 and 2002. European Tour POTY in 2001. Played in six consecutive Presidents Cups.
BILLY PAYNE Lifetime Achievement
Former Augusta chairman oversaw introduction of female members and created the Drive, Chip & Putt National Championship. Helped with golf’s return to Olympics in 2016.
JAN STEPHENSON Female Competitor
Named LPGA Rookie of the Year in her debut season in 1974 and went on to record 20 victories including 16 LPGA Tour titles and three majors. Helped found the Women’s Senior Golf Tour.
DENNIS WALTERS Lifetime Achievement
Elite golfer who was paralysed from the waist down aged 24 following a golf buggy accident. Has dedicated his career to sharing life lessons and inspiring fans and disabled golfers.
