The couple painted many of the walls in a neutral grey – but there’s a trick. ‘The further you walk into the house, the darker and darker it becomes,’ says Malin. To compensate, they’ve made the most of natural light and gone for white on doors and window frames. A patterned rug adds a graphic twist to the dining room, and there are plenty of personal touches – the lighting above the dining table was handmade by the couple, and their collection of ornaments and artworks sits proudly on shelving. A roll of paper, suspended from hooks bought from Ikea, is used by the family as a write-on, tear-off schedule for the week ahead.
