HANDWASHING vs THE DISHWASHER
- which is really more efficient?
A dishwasher uses 8-18 litres of water per load, whereas washing the same amount by hand would use 32-40 litres – around double the water use. On average, we spend more than 130 hours a year washing up by hand. Loading and unloading a dishwasher is a much quicker task, particularly if you take turns! It’s no longer necessary to rinse plates before you load the dishwasher thanks to the separate rinse cycles, saving even more time.
