If a racing mind stops you snoozing, anchor your thoughts with a mantra, says psychologi­st and author of The Self

Care Revolution, Suzy Reading. Repeat to yourself: ‘It is just time for me to rest. There is nothing required of me right now.’ If it’s still hard to get back to sleep, repeat: ‘If I can’t sleep, I will rest. If I can’t slow my mind, I will soften my body. I receive the inhalation, I surrender to the exhalation. I become my breath.’ As you repeat it, release any tension in your body and feel yourself breathe.
