‘As a curvier woman, I’m in jean denial. I long for that lean line, so I have been buying skinny jeans to pull everything in. But skinnies just aren’t smart enough for the office or glam enough for after-work drinks. And, to my surprise, I now learn they are not all that successful when it comes to shrinking my shape!

Denim guru Donna Ida steered me away from my usual blue skinnies and towards a more grown-up design. I tried the high-waist, straight-leg Boy Dazzler jeans, which are in a vintage-inspired darker grey wash. It’s a pleasant surprise to discover that more is less – in other words, the more room there is in the jeans the fewer lumps and bumps I have. And by adding a sexy pair of heels, I can dress them up to take me anywhere. It’s taken 20 years, but I may just be ready to shimmy out of my skinnies!’
