‘Jeans are my weekend failsafes and I wear them with absolutely everything (even under dresses!) but my usual off-duty favourites just don’t feel as stylish as they once did. My new dream jeans would be modern and laid-back, but still grown-up, as well as being perfectly fitted – I’m petite, so most jeans are too long and I have to have them altered.

I was looking forward to my appointment at Gap and wanted advice on new styles that might add a bit of polish to my wardrobe. My stylist advised against wide-leg styles, as they apparently make me look shorter, and recommended I try on a cropped kick-flare instead. I was worried that cropped jeans would look too young but my stylist explained that they’re surprisingly versatile and I ended up loving them. As I prefer clean, minimal-looking jeans, I didn’t go for Gap’s customisation service (they can do anything from hemming to adding studs and patchwork) but it’s a great idea for gifts.’
