DRY OR DEHYDRATED – WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

-

In skincare speak, ‘dry’ means skin that lacks oil and ‘dehydrated’ means a lack of moisture. But while dryness is seen as a skin type (so one you’re born with or develops into a long-term state), dehydration is a condition that comes and goes, that all skin types can suffer from. However, if you have dry skin (which is more likely as you age and lipid production slows down) it will usually be dehydrated, too, meaning you’ll need to treat the two conditions at the same time by replacing oil and moisture.
