INLAND Spain
Andalucia, home to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is best known for its ‘golden triangle’ of Seville, crowned by an immense Gothic cathedral, Granada, with its magnificent Alhambra palace, and Córdoba, famous for its great mosque. But do broaden your horizons to visit the so-called frontier towns: try Jerez for flamenco, sherry bodegas and the pueblos blancos – the white villages, with cobbled streets and narrow alleyways.
You might also want to visit Jaén, which has the best-preserved Moorish baths in Spain, with the World Heritage cities of Úbeda and Baeza nearby, and the spectacular beaches of the Costa de la Luz. STAY THERE: Sunvil (sunvil.co.uk) has launched a new fly-drive (and short breaks) programme to Andalucia, from £746pp for seven nights B&B in Ronda, including car hire and flights.
