LIGHT FANTASTIC

The

latest in LED light therapy

It used to be that you’d have to visit a skin specialist to get a dose of rejuvenating LED light therapy, but beauty technology is increasingly coming home and the latest gadgets are now so quick and simple to use, they’ll slot easily into your routine. First, the science: used for years as an antiinflammatory treatment, red light also accelerates cell renewal and stimulates collagen production. That means hydration and radiance levels are upped, lines smoothed and skin texture improved. It can also be mixed with blue light, which kills acne-causing bacteria, an effective combo that’s found in Neutrogena’s Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment [1], £29.99. Used for two minutes up to three times a day, it can nip an erupting spot in the bud. To soften frown lines and crow’s feet, there’s Dr Dennis Gross’ Spectralite [2], £175, a pair of futuristic-looking specs that beam red light into the area around your eyes, while the Foreo UFO [3], from £159, combines red, blue and brightening green light with a mini sheet mask and sonic vibrations in a 90-second treatment. Carita’s My C.L.E. [4] is an investment at £399, but could save you money if you have salon facials regularly. As well as red, blue, green and white light (a mix of the first three), it has microcurrents to give your face a noticeable lift.
