We would have loved to have been on the set of this film starring Hollywood legends Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen. The four play friends who enliven a book club by reading Fifty Shades Of Grey. What they really want to do is spice up their own sex lives, which they manage with the help of some dashing male backup (Andy Garcia and Don Johnson). It’s not really about Fifty Shades, but about female friendship. 1 June

What’s better than a breezy, summery romcom? One that has a mischievous dog at the centre of the action, that’s what. The film’s star, Beattie Edmondson, is the daughter of Jennifer Saunders, who also appears in the film. But it’s Patrick the pug who steals the show – he’s a ‘small beast’ bequeathed to teacher Sarah (Edmondson) by her grandmother, and so begins a pooch-based adventure. 29 June

Based on the novel by Penelope Fitzgerald, the tale follows widow Florence (Emily Mortimer) as she opens a bookshop in a small town. Local residents try to oust her, but she starts a friendship with Mr Brundish (Bill Nighy), who becomes her confidant. 29 June
