Good Housekeeping (UK)

It’s so good to meet you!

-

Hello and welcome to September Good Housekeeping, my first issue as your new editor-in-chief. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be here – Good Housekeeping is a magazine I’ve been reading for well over a decade and, just like you, I love it for its mix of inspiring features, fabulous style advice, home ideas, delicious recipes and, of course, its incredible Good Housekeeping Institute and Tried, Tested, Trusted product reviews.

I feel unbelievably fortunate to be leading a team of unquestionably the most experienced and most talented journalists in the media sector, among them executive editor, Michelle Hather; group beauty director, Eve Cameron; consumer affairs director, Caroline Bloor; cookery director, Meike Beck; fashion directors Oonagh Brennan and Amanda Marcantonio; homes & gardens editor, Carolyn Bailey; features editor, Jackie Brown; health director, Julie Powell; creative director, Jacqui Hampsey; picture director, Laura Beckwith…. I could go on! There are too many brilliant staff members here to mention them all individually, but I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to them for their dedication and passion for this brand. Great magazines are only possible with great teams and, boy, do I have one of those!

What a dream for my first issue to be fronted by Emma Thompson, one of the country’s newest Dames. Having admired her for the past 30 years and loved so many of her films, I couldn’t wait to meet her in the flesh and I can promise you she’s everything in person that you would hope her to be – charming, thoughtful, self-deprecating and ‘real’. She loves her age, the stage and setting herself new challenges. I think my first team outing with everyone at GH will be to see Emma in The Children Act and I know we’re in for a treat.

Elsewhere in this issue, I do hope you’ll enjoy our new–season fashion special, beauty’s big anti-ageing rethink, as well as practical advice for so many other areas of your life. Please do let me know what you think via email.

See you next month,
