From light bulbs to old trainers, we have it covered…
FOOD & DRINK CARTONS
Once washed and squashed, these can go to special recycling banks – visit recyclenow.com or tetrapakrecycling.co.uk.
BUBBLE WRAP & PLASTIC BAGS
These include freezer and bread bags, plus kitchen roll pack wrappers – simply go to carrier bag collection points at big supermarkets.
ENERGY-EFFICIENT LIGHT BULBS
Find out where via the locator tool at recolight.co.uk. Or you can drop them off at a branch of Robert Dyas (robertdyas.co.uk).
OLD TRAINERS
Drop off up to 10 pairs of any brand at a Nike Reuse-a-shoe
collection point, located in bigger Nike stores (visit nike.com to find the one that’s closest to you). These will then be turned into anything from surfacing for athletics venues or playgrounds to new trainers and sportswear.
COFFEE CAPSULES
These can often go to the machine manufacturers’ own collection schemes (check individual websites for information). However, you can also buy handy Nespressocompatible pods from Cru Kafe (33p per capsule, crukafe.com) that can be recycled in kerbside collections that accept plastics and foil. To recycle, you simply need to peel off the foil, empty the grounds into your food waste or home compost bin and rinse out the pod.
