The trends for next year are all about personality and authenticity. Interiors should reflect how we live, offering humour and comfort when needed.

Art is crucial and there are so many options available that make it affordable for anyone. I love the Affordable Art Fair – it’s a great place to discover new artists and has made art more accessible. The new trend is immersive art, and, with sustainability leading the way, changeable art that can be displayed on a digital screen is starting to gain popularity.

Linking back to sustainability, we’re likely to see a move away from throwaway buys in fashion and interiors, and we’ll find people leaning towards investment

pieces that will last season after season instead.

Matt black will be everywhere,

whether it’s on taps, walls, furniture or accessories. I love accents of black in the home, and matt black helps to add depth and modernity, while being much softer and warmer than a gloss black. Matt finishes are also much more forgiving and help hide any surface blemishes – people are busier than ever these days, so durability is key.

Statement walls and murals

aren’t going anywhere in 2019, and these are a great way to add contrast and play with spatial perception. You can even hang beautiful rugs on the wall and display them as art for a new take on this trend.
