More ways with BLUSH

-

As with lipstick, blusher has more lives than one, says make-up artist Daniel Sandler. ‘Powder or liquid, shimmering or matte, blush is the ultimate in multi-purpose make-up, and perfect for lips, eyes or cheeks, or even all three at once,’ he says.

CONTOUR YOUR SOCKET

As blushers mimic the tones that are already in our skin, they’re ideal for creating natural-looking contours. Taking the smallest dab of liquid or cream blush on a fingertip, press it into your eye sockets, creating definition that doesn’t look too ‘done’.

COCKTAIL YOUR CREAMS

Gleam, gloss, dew… it’s the make-up finish of the moment, so bring a matte cream blush up to date by mixing in a drop of liquid highlighter on the back of your hand before applying with fingers or a blending sponge, says Daniel.

PLAY WITH SHIMMER

‘As an eyeshadow substitute, shimmery powder blush really opens up the eyes, especially if you apply a little to the highest part of the cheekbones, too,’ says Daniel. He also recommends tapping paler shades carefully over your lip line, where the shimmer will catch the light and make lips look fuller.

CREATE A WHOLE FACE

Using one flattering colour across eyes, lips and cheeks gives a pared-back ‘tonal’ look that’s always in fashion. For paler complexions with pink undertones, Daniel suggests using a slightly deeper pink. Olive skin suits warmer nude or caramel hues, and on black skin, try plum or deep red. Add clear gloss to lips and pat highlighter over cheekbones to prevent the finish from looking flat.
