PURPLE PATCH

-

‘Never trust a woman who wears mauve, whatever her age may be,’ wrote Oscar Wilde in The Picture Of Dorian Gray. ‘It always means they have a history.’ Don’t we all, dear reader? And don’t let that stop you wearing mauve or any other purple-ish hue you fancy. It’s lovely for spring and there’s a nuanced shade to flatter every skintone. My picks: OPI Oh You Sing, Dance, Act and Produce? nail lacquer, £13.90, is a long-wearing, modern blue-lilac. I also love

the Suqqu Signature Color Eyes palette in Mizuhana, £48, in which cool mauves meet greyish-browns. As well as being versatile, the powders are laced with hydrating ingredients. And if you’re game to try something a little brighter, Beauty Pie Wondercolour Longwear Cream Eyeshadow Stick in Lilas, £5.13 to members (it’s worth being a member!), is gorgeous. It’s foolproof to apply and stays put all day.
