KEEP BEDDING FEELING FRESH

Around a quarter of us admit to only changing our bed linen once a month*, but washing sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers and mattress protectors regularly helps keep germs and dust mites at bay. Follow these dos and don’ts for that hotel bed feel…

-

DO wash bedding at 60°C with a biological powder detergent or a laundry disinfectant (check the care label on bedding first) for a really hygienic clean.

DON’T leave wet laundry sitting in the washing machine drum once the cycle has finished.

If any germs are still lurking in the washing, they can multiply rapidly in this damp environment.

DO clean your duvets and machine-washable pillows at least twice a year. Tumble-drying them is preferable to air drying, as any moisture left deep inside them can encourage mould.

DON’T make the bed as soon as you get up. This can trap moisture in your bedding, creating a welcoming environment for germs and dust mites. Leave your bed to air for a couple of hours instead.
