THE DETAILS
All-new Renault Captur E-tech Plug-in Hybrid
The Swedish coast feels so clean, you’ll be loath to contaminate it with petrol fumes. On a long trip like this, with not much time for charging, a hybrid is the answer to reducing emissions guilt without worrying about the battery life. After the success of its all–electric
Zoe, Renault has turned its hand to part-electrifying its Captur SUV with the new E-tech Plug-in Hybrid. By combining a 1.6L petrol engine, a 9.8kwh battery and
two electric motors, you can drive fully electric around town and, for longer journeys, switch to a petrol/electric motor combo. The battery makes it 200kg heavier than the petrol/diesel versions, so it can feel a tad sluggish if you’re more Lewis Hamilton than Sunday Driver, but the battery doesn’t cramp your boot space, and you can fit in two decent-sized cases and still have room for your Systembolaget liquor stash.
