SIMPLE MEDITATION

Mindfulnes­s expert Amy Malloy of amysyogacl­ub.com suggests a short, candle-gazing meditation at home to bring space and warmth into your mind.

• Light a candle and place it just in front of you and away from anything flammable.

• Sit comfortabl­y then close your eyes. Take three slow breaths in and out. Notice your connection with the floor.

• Open your eyes and gaze softly at the candle flame. Allow yourself simply to watch the flame, observing its colour and light. If your mind wanders, that’s okay, just bring it back to the flame.

• Spend five minutes or so gazing. Then close your eyes or lower your gaze and focus on the colours behind your eyes.

• Take three more slow breaths and connect with the floor again. Either stay relaxing or continue with another element of your spa day.
