HOW TO CLEAN YOUR KITCHEN EXTRACTOR FAN

-

If your extractor fan looks grimy and greasy, follow these steps to get it shining again…

● Unplug the extractor at the mains. If you’ve just finished cooking, wait until the hood is cool.

● Remove the outer cover and wash it in a warm solution of washing-up liquid. If your fan has a hood that you can’t remove, wipe it with a washing-up liquid solution, being careful not to wet the internal electrics/motor. Rinse and dry with kitchen towel.

● Wipe fan blades with a damp cloth wrung out in a solution of washing-up liquid. Ensure they are dry before replacing.

● If your fan has filters, wash them with washing-up liquid and dry before replacing. Sponge filters need replacing after a few washes. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for replacing carbon odour filters and paper filters, which can’t be washed.
