Are we still paying ‘tampon tax’?

Since this was abolished, we should have been paying less. But have retailers been passing on the savings?

-

If you’ve been shopping at supermarkets, you may not have noticed much of a price difference because Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s all stopped charging customers the 5% VAT on sanitary products more than three years ago. Following the government’s recent announcement, Boots and Superdrug are now charging 5% less on sanitary products, too. That’s all great but, tax or no tax, where is the cheapest place to bag period products? GH found Always Ultra Night size 3 with wings (10 pack) was cheapest at Tesco and Sainsbury’s (£1.50), but you’ll pay £1.90 at Morrisons and Boots. Tampax Pearl Super (18 pack) is cheapest at Tesco (£2.60), but will set you back £3 at Boots. As always, it pays to shop around!**
