3 nuisance notifications… and how to switch them off!

If the constant pings from your phone are driving you mad, here’s how to stop them

-

FACEBOOK MEMORIES

The Facebook Memories feature used to be great for reminding yourself of old posts and photos and to re-share those moments with friends. But if the daily notifications have started to get on your nerves, it might be time to turn them off. Visit facebook. com/memories, click the Notifications tab on the sidebar and choose None to stop receiving them.

INSTAGRAM

If you use Instagram, you’ll know it can be guilty of swarming you with notifications, such as when someone you follow starts filming a live video. Stop them by going to your Settings, then Notifications. From the list, pick the notification category for

the alert you wish to turn off, such as Live. Here, you can choose what you do want to hear about and what you don’t.

SCREEN TIME REPORTS

Keeping an eye on how much time you spend using your smartphone has been made easier by screen time reports. However, the regular notifications about them could be defeating the point by making you pick up your phone more often. Switch them off from the Notifications tab in Settings. Scroll to Screen Time Report on an iphone, or Digital Wellbeing Report on Android, and toggle it off. You will still be able to access the reports whenever you want to.
