Boost your pension
Get National Insurance credits if the child you’re looking after is under 12 and you’re yet to reach state pension age.
It doesn’t matter how many hours of childcare you take on (virtually or in person) – a working parent can transfer their National Insurance credits, which are automatically applied with Child Benefit, to you. The scheme isn’t just limited to grandparents and covers other family members, like aunts and uncles, too. The working parent in receipt of the Child Benefit will have to fill out a form to make the transfer, free of charge. Find out about ‘specified adult childcare credits’ via gov.uk.
