Alesha Dixon reveals her make-up must-haves

To strike a balance between work and life, I plan

my week. I’ll plan when to exercise, when to meditate, how I eat… I’ll even plan doing nothing.

Silence is important. I remember Oprah Winfrey saying once that if you can’t find five minutes a day for silence, you’re doing yourself a disservice. It calms your mind and nervous system.

Taking care of me enables me to take care of my kids, my business, my work, and just makes me feel good about myself. The older I get, the more fascinated I’ve become by what our bodies need to function and thrive. The goal for my new brand Nobleblu is for it to be a one-stop shop and community for all things wellness, but we’re starting with five supplements: Focus, Beauty, Immunity, Balance and Energy [7], from £25 each (nobleblu.com).

I take my Energy supplement every day.

It includes beetroot, which is good for blood flow, Montmorency cherry, which aids recovery after workouts, and Q10, to help release energy. In the afternoon, I’ll take Focus, as it’s designed for mental clarity; it makes me feel perky rather than flagging at 4 o’clock! There’s zinc in it and Lion’s Mane, both of which are great for brain function and important for memory, attention and alertness. We use herbs, such as ashwagandha, to reduce anxiety, too. My alarm is my 22-month-old baby, Anaya, who wakes me up at around 7.30am. I don’t do a big skincare routine when I get up, but in the evening, I’ll cleanse properly and apply my products. I think face creams are my biggest indulgence. I like Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream [6], £150. I hesitate to spend money on some things, but when it comes to face creams, I’m quite happy to purchase a really great product. I love Omorovicza Miracle Facial Oil [3], £85, too. I put this on before I go to bed. I look as though you could fry an egg on my face, but I swear by it.

I feel most beautiful after a workout

I’ve never felt more beautiful than when I was pregnant. Your hair gets thicker, your nails get longer – this is before you get heartburn, of course, but at six months pregnant, I felt amazing. These days, I feel most beautiful after a workout.

I know I’m sweating and my hair is a mess, but exercise gives you a glow no make-up can. It took me a long time to realise that I didn’t need hair extensions, fake lashes, loads of make-up and cool clothes to be beautiful; I began to like myself and make peace with who I am.

At home, my go-to make-up look is a little bit of concealer, bronzing powder and lip liner. I love Estée Lauder Double Wear Radiant Concealer [9], £25, and I’m currently using L’oréal Infallible Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick [2], £9.99. I like natural brown tones; I’ll put some Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream [5], £28, on top to add a pop. Sisley Phyto-lèvres Perfect lip pencil in Chocolat [1], £42, is absolutely gorgeous as well. Even when I go out at night, I try to keep my make-up fresh. My daytime scent is Tom Ford Black Orchid, from £61, or Gucci Bloom [8], from £55.

If I’m going out for a special occasion, I might wear Bulgari Le Gemme Zahira, £268 – it is unbelievably delicious. It smells of evenings in a boutique hotel with a gorgeous restaurant! On my bedside table? NEOM Perfect Night’s Sleep candle [4], £46, my Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and a little flower! I usually have a book there, too. I’m currently reading Oprah Winfrey’s O’s Little Guide To Finding Your True Purpose and O’s Little Book Of Happiness. I like the kind of book that you can open at any page, any chapter, and read. I have Michelle and Barack Obama’s autobiographies side by side on a shelf; I walk past them and think, ‘Yes I can!’ They are the epitome of achievement, greatness and goodness. I worried about everything when I was younger.

It is so draining and not a nice way to live. It is literally a waste of your energy because it achieves nothing. My mum used to say to me that worrying is like a rocking chair – you can rock and rock but you go nowhere. Now I would tell my younger self to trust that all will be well. The dark moments and the hard times are the making of you, so don’t fear them. Instead, see them as something to work through and become better, stronger and more resilient.

The best thing about ageing, for me, is peace of mind and the understanding of what’s really important in life. I try to live one day at a time. There’s a lot to be said for being present in the moment. That’s my vibe. My children bring me an indescribable joy, as does my partner, my dogs, my friendships, nature, music, and just feeling good. I’m very, very lucky. I’m so fortunate, and I don't forget it. Every day, I give thanks for that.
