CELEBRATING FRIENDSHIP

I really enjoyed your article Friends Through Thick And Thin (July). We celebrate marriage anniversaries, yet we sometimes have longer relationships with friends. My best friend Julie and I marked 30 years of friendship with a trip to India, and a decade on, we had a trip to Reims in France – lots of Champagne! My friends have supported me through many ups and downs and have always been there for me. I feel very blessed and will continue to celebrate the decades! SARAH-JANE SMITH

BELIEVE AND ACHIEVE

I’ve recently been diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 52 and your interview with Kelly Hoppen (July) resonated with me. Years of failing at school all changed when I trained to be a nurse. More than 30 years on, it’s my resilience that has got me through many challenges – most recently, nursing on a Covid intensive care ward. My message to everyone is: Believe in yourself – you can achieve. JEN DAVID

LIFE-SAVING SCREENINGS

Marina Wheeler’s ‘Thanks To Screening I’m Still Here’ (July) is a lesson to us all about how important these tests are. We need more of these inspiring women to share their experiences and remind us how lucky we are that the NHS provides this life-saving service, and that we should make use of it. RICHA

WEDDING DAY MEMORIES

I should like to thank you for publishing the great article about the imminent wedding of Rosie Wilby and her future wife, Suz (‘I’ve Finally Said Yes To Marriage’, July). So few magazines talk about same-sex relationships, and this article was so well written. It reminded me of my wedding; I married Mary in 2018, and we shared a magical day with a small group of family and friends. JULIE CARDWELL-PEARCE

GH RECOMMENDED

After reading and loving your July edition I bought Hamnet by Maggie O’farrell, as suggested by Davina Mccall. Then, inspired by your article on Angela Scanlon, I bought two pots of Olay Total Effects Whip, and I’m loving it! HEATHER HOWARD

BAKES AND MAKES

I made this Lemon and Blueberry Ricotta Cheesecake (Berry Beautiful, July), tweaking the topping and adding black cherries, too. An absolute showstopper of a cheesecake! GILL GIBSON

This Malted Chocolate Brownie recipe is my go-to for a tasty treat! I’d had the Chocolate Heaven supplement for some time when I tried this one rainy weekend. The recipe is so easy to follow and they truly are the best brownies I’ve ever made! JODIE SHEPHERD

Beautifully written, The Silence by Susan Allott is set in Australia across two time periods and concerns the heartbreaking policy of removing Aboriginal children from their families. Caroline Bishop

The Women Who Ran Away by Sheila O’flanagan is a lovely tale of two women crossing France and Spain in search of clues set by a partner. Joanna Youel

Maja Lunde’s The History Of Bees is one of the most thought-provoking books I’ve read this year. It is both sad and hopeful, and negative and positive. Christine Tolfree
