THE ART OF LETTING GO
I really enjoyed How To Help Teens Bounce Back (July). Lorraine Candy’s approach of letting her children sort out their own issues, while offering background support, was a breath of fresh air. As a teacher of teenagers for more than a decade, I’ve seen how parents often want schools to resolve everything from friendship changes to anxiety, rather than letting children learn to deal with them in a safe environment. Parents: you don’t need to solve every problem! FRANCES RADLEY
EVERYBODY BELONGS
I was really touched by Anita Sethi’s story ‘My Journey Of Hope’ (July). Being racially abused and made to feel like an outsider in the country where you live is never okay, but sadly so often we hear stories like this. I love that Anita found the strength to turn her experience into something positive by setting up a foundation (I-belong-here.com) to help others feel safe and welcome. MARIKA VALIAHO
THE JOY OF A CHOIR
Your article The Healing Power Of Hobbies (September) rang so true; hobbies are such a boon to mental and physical health. I feel you missed out one great option, though: singing in a choir. You can go to a session in the darkest of moods and always come out smiling. I can’t recommend it highly enough. TEE STOKES
BE PROUD OF YOUR HAIR
How refreshing to read such positive stories in The Hair Diaries (July). All three women looked amazing and make really good role models. I started going white in my early 30s and embraced the look. I received so many compliments, with others wanting a hair colour like mine. So my message is to be brave and stop worrying – if they can do it, so can you. ALISON LUCAS
MAKING A SPLASH
As a fiftysomething who’s been hiding inside during the pandemic, your piece about paddleboarding, Our First Time (August), really grabbed me. A friend put me in touch with a local instructor and I now have my first taster session booked. I can’t wait! JANE NIAK
