FOR NON-STOP SPA-ING… Champneys Mottram Hall Hotel & Health Spa, Cheshire

-

One of the most therapeutic aspects of visiting any Champneys spa is the feeling of being very, very far away from everyday life... and at Mottram Hall, you’re completely surrounded by acres of quiet greenery just a few miles from the Peak District countryside. Then, of course, there are the famous facilities and world-class treatments; Champneys may be one of the heritage brands of the UK spa scene, but it hasn’t rested on its laurels. Alongside aromatherapy facials, exfoliating body rituals, deep tissue massages, manicures and waxing, we were pleased to see a Million Dollar Facial, targeting myriad skin concerns (£118 for 55 minutes), and treatments suitable for people living with or recovering from cancer (from £99 for 50 minutes).

GH enlisted the expertise of the enthusiastic staff, who explained each treatment in detail and made helpful recommendations – we loved everything they suggested and felt that everyone we spoke to understood our skincare and wellbeing concerns. Between treatments, guests can split their time between a range of hydro spaces including two swimming pools, Jacuzzi, organic and Nordic saunas, steam room, cold room and monsoon showers. For the more active, there’s a gym with panoramic views and a huge Peloton studio. It’s an absolute cornucopia of pampering, where more than one night is a must.

NEED TO KNOW It’s worth requesting a ground-floor room with a patio, so you can watch the sun go down, cocktail in hand and in blissful silence.

 Accommodation from £139 for a one-night spa stay without treatments; spa days from £79 without treatments; treatments from £30 (champneys.com)
