FIND THE RIGHT FRAME FOR YOU

-

Despite popular belief, it’s all about your brow line, not your face shape, when choosing glasses. The nose, the eye sockets, the space between the eyes, the ears – they are all factors to consider when choosing glasses, but it’s your brow line that defines almost every part of your face, so it should always be your starting point when picking a frame.

The top of the frame should match your brow line (which often mimics the shape of your hairline). You don’t want to see your eyebrows through the lens, nor do you want eyebrows poking out at odd angles at the top of the frames. Instead, they should sit just behind the rim. Ensure the frame follows the line of your brow, just slightly cutting through, as this helps bring symmetry to the face.

If you have straight eyebrows, you’re more likely to have a fringe, so boxy, square frames tend to work best as they are flat on top, which follows the same straight line as your brow line and fringe.

If you have a rounded eyebrow, you will inevitably have a well-defined, round-shaped hairline, too. So, you are going to look great in ‘panto’ style glasses, which match these two rounded frames on your face.

If you have hard-angled arched eyebrows, you probably have a side parting, so a cat’s-eye shape is best.

If you are self-conscious about your larger nose, avoid keyhole bridges on frames, as they make your nose look bigger. Instead, opt for what we call a ‘saddle bridge’ style – the deeper it sits down your nose, the smaller your nose will look.

If your hair is thinning or you have a receding hairline, thick, bold frames will help define your face and bridge the gap between your brow and hairline. Those with thicker hair can afford to wear a slimmer, lighter frame.
