Good times with… Richard Armitage
The actor and author lives in London. The last great film you saw…
Oppenheimer. It’s an amazing piece of filmmaking. My dad worked in the nuclear power industry and he always used to talk to me about atomic energy, so I was really interested in the science behind the story.
The film you could watch over and over…
Raiders Of The Lost Ark. If I ever turn on the TV and it’s showing, no matter where it’s at in the film, I’ll sit down and finish watching it.
The performance that made you cry…
Phaedra at the National Theatre starring Janet Mcteer. Talk about being blown away!
The one you’d tell everyone to see…
Guys & Dolls at The Bridge Theatre. You can get standing tickets near the performance spaces, which sort of emerge through the floor and the room turns into a nightclub after the show. It’s a brilliant night out.
The News Agents hosted by Emily Maitlis, Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall. I do like a long-form
The podcast you loved… The last boxset you binged on…
Grand Designs. I was obsessed with design as a kid and I used to draw floor plans of houses. I dream of one day buying a plot of land and building something from scratch.
Top of your TV planner this month…
Harlan Coben’s Shelter on Amazon Prime, which is set in New Jersey. I can’t wait to see it.
Queen’s Greatest Hits. I grew up on songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody. They don’t make them like that now.
The album you loved… The one you want to hear…
I’d love to hear more from Annie Lennox. She was one of my musical obsessions.
The book that inspired you…
I’ve been inspired by a lot of writers. I’m a big fan of TM Logan, LJ Ross and CJ Tudor.
The ticket I’d love to get my hands on…
I would love to have seen Beyoncé on her Renaissance World Tour.
• Richard’s debut novel, Geneva (Faber), is out 12 October
