TAYLOR HAS BEEN LEFT RED-FACED OVER HOW IT HAS ALL ESCALATED

dating), Calvin told Ryan Seacrest that he and Taylor ‘haven’t even spoken [about collaborating]. I can’t see it happening though.’

However, it now transpires this was the ‘breaking point’ in their relationship, with one report claiming that Taylor felt ‘cast aside’ by his remarks.

‘As far as Calvin was concerned, in that interview he was sticking to the story they’d decided on,’ a source told Grazia. ‘But Taylor was annoyed that she wasn’t getting the credit where it was due. When people later started speculating that she’d played a part in the song, she was happy for the truth to be known.’

However, insiders say that ‘Taylor had no idea what she was getting herself into’ by revealing her involvement. Last week, Calvin went online to write: ‘She sings on a little bit of it too. Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual. I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym. Hurtful to me that at this point she and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad.’

Then, things took an even uglier turn, when Calvin referenced Taylor’s feud with long-term nemesis Katy Perry. The pair’s mutual dislike came to a head last year, when Taylor released Bad Blood, widely rumoured to be about Katy. The year before, Taylor told an interviewer, ‘For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, “Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?”

‘She did something so horrible. I was like, “Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies…” It had to do with business – she basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour.’

Calvin continued: ‘I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy etc, but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it. Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you’ve earned a great one.’

As thousands of Calvin’s and Katy’s fans began the hash tag# taylor swift is over party and trolled the singer’s Instagram with snake emojis, Katy responded by simply tweeting: ‘Time, the ultimate truth teller’. Meanwhile, Taylor’s own fans fought back, posting heart emojis.

As for Taylor? ‘She is naturally upset,’ according to an insider. ‘She feels like confirming her part in the song has backfired massively. She has been left red-faced over how it has all escalated and how parts of her character have been put in question. She was very innocently pointing out that she had been involved in the creation of the song, which had been speculated upon for some time, and didn’t anticipate the backlash. To see Calvin side with Katy is bound to have been painful.’

Now, Grazia understands that Taylor is carefully considering her response. The source said, ‘There’s speculation Taylor may speak to a music journal about her songwriting, and address the situation with Calvin as part of that at some point. She’s usually in complete control of her career, but this has really caught her off-guard. She wants the dust to settle, but she’s not going to let this slide.’
