‘ KATE INC’ GETS DOWN TO BUSINESS

-

KATE MOSS IS MANY THINGS – international supermodel, legendary party girl and known air-steward-botherer. Now, it seems she’s adding yet another string to her bow.

Back in March, Grazia exclusively revealed that Kate was planning to reinvent herself by starting her own model agency. Then, last week, the news became offificial when the 42-year-old launched Kate Moss Agency.

The move comes after Kate left Storm, her agency for 28 years, earlier this year, with one friend telling Grazia: ‘As Kate’s own modelling career is scaling down, she was keen to diversify and represent other

up-and-coming names. She wants her agency to be all about discovering new talent and mentoring the models she signs up. She plans on getting them work through the many contacts she’s built up over the years.’

Kate has already chosen her own former agent and close friend Lucy Baxter as her right-hand woman, and appointed director of popular Soho restaurant L’escargot, Alexander Green, as her co-director.

It follows numerous apparently dead-end attempts by Kate to relaunch her career, prompting speculation that she has ‘floundered’ over what to do next. They include an interior design project with the company YOO last year (Kate registered a business called Kate Moss Interiors Ltd in December) and a stint as a designer with French label Equipment this summer.

‘Kate admits she needs a back-up plan now that she’s doing less modelling,’ added the source. ‘She will still take jobs that come her way, but will represent herself, without having to give commission to an agent.

‘She has worked hard and earned enough money not to worry about rushing into any other projects just yet. She knows that when she makes her next steps it will be for the right reasons.’
