THE CLEVER LITTLE TOUCHES

WHERE IS IT? Near the beach, a couple of hours from Melbourne. The couple spotted the four-bedroom house on a weekend away and immediately fell for its location as well as its quirky design – made from timber and rammed earth

Instead of boxing in the usual rectangular shaped bath, Arabella chose a beautifully sculptural oval bath (the Lagoon bath at bathstore.com is similar) to give a luxuriously relaxed feel. The simple, vintage-style taps keep the look uncluttered so the simple open shelving unit doesn’t overwhelm the calmness which is accentuated by beautiful glassware.

The corner of the top kitchen cabinets has open shelves – very on trend – that break up the bank of cabinets forf a more laidback look.

DECKED OUT

The immediate outside area has been done out in decking, creating a great outdoor relaxing and entertaining space. The trunks across the top help zone the space, which includes outdoor seating for lounging and an outdoor pizza oven (thestonebake ovencompany.co.uk).

A curving daybed covered with cushions made by Arabella in a graphic ikat-style fabric creates a fab corner in an upstairs room, the pale pink of the print picked up in the striped cushion.
