Retro monochrome checks equal an en pointe workwear update; wear an A-line shift dress with ballet pumps now, and layered over a black roll-neck (for a little touch of mod style) and knee-high boots come autumn. A red checked trouser suit looks the business worn together, or try the trousers with a crisp cotton button-up for low-key luxe. And a printed pinafore dress is the perfect crossover buy for work and play. Dress it up over a white shirt for the office and down over a simple tee at the weekend.
