‘KATE ISN’T MARRYING NIKOLAI’ says Jo Wood
LAST WEEK, KATE MOSS sparked a new round of speculation that she could be engaged to her boyfriend of one year, Nikolai von Bismarck, when she was pictured in London wearing what looked suspiciously like an engagement ring. It followed claims that the pair were planning a Greek wedding after Nik had apparently proposed during a holiday in Venice. According to one account, ‘They are aiming to tie the knot before Christmas, but Kate is waiting to finalise her divorce from Jamie Hince.’
However, speaking exclusively to Grazia, Kate’s long-time friend Jo Wood has dismissed the rumours. ‘She’s not marrying him!’ she said. ‘I must call [Kate’s friend] Fran Cutler immediately and tell her that people are actually saying this!’
The ex-wife of rocker Ronnie Wood also said she felt ‘weird’ about Kate’s relationship with Nik, which began last autumn after the breakdown of her marriage. ‘It’s so weird because she’s my friend, but he is one of my son Tyrone’s friends,’ she continued. ‘I met him through my son. He is a nice guy and he’s got good pedigree, which is very cool.’ Jo and Kate have been close friends for years, and Jo has credited Kate with helping her move on from the breakdown of her marriage to Rolling Stone Ronnie, who she divorced in 2009 following his affair with a 19-year-old waitress, Ekaterina Ivanova. She later commented, ‘Kate was brilliant. Her advice was to put on a fantastic dress, go out and have fun. It was tough at first, but I was determined this wouldn’t crush me.’ Kate has never publicly spoken about the end of her marriage to The Kills singer Jamie, who has been touring almost continually in America since the news broke over a year ago. The pair are still believed to be married with no news of a divorce. So, will we ever see Kate marry again? According to Jo, ‘No one has said anything about Kate marrying Nikolai, but nothing surprises me any more, especially not with Kate.’
