TELL ME ABOUT IT, STUD!

MUCH OF THE FASH-CHAT last season focused on where various editors were flocking for their multiple ear piercings (Maria Tash, since you ask). But this season, it’s not your body parts that want spearing – it’s your accessories.

There’s one It bag in particular that really got this trend going. Enter the JW Anderson ‘Pierce’ bag on the arm of everyone who’s anyone, and currently being snapped by street style photographers Phil Oh and Tommy Ton on both sides of the Atlantic. This hooped-wonder of a bag is embellished with a distinct gold ring, much like the hoop earrings we (and J-LO) regularly thread through our lobes. Studs are rife, too. But not in a signature Valentino Rockstud 

phenomenon way. Think early ’80s punk and Blitz-kid cool. Alexander Wang’s models stomped out in monochrome ankle boots armed with giant studs – the kind of boots that improve with age, the muddier and more frequently festival-bound, the better. And at Coach 1941, where inspo ranged from college jock to disco-queen, Stuart Vevers punched his gold block heels with studs.
