THIS IS NOT A DRILL! Your surprise new-season must-have comes from the high street. You see, as the eyes of the world swivelled on to Victoria Beckham at the foot of her spring/ summer 2018 runway last week in NYC, she wore – drum roll – jeans and a white T-shirt. That’s all, folks! Blue jeans. White T-shirt. But that isn’t all, is it. Why? Because we speak of La Beckham; she whose every stiletto heel (in this case a pastel pair nicked from the show) must be analysed. So what have we here? In essence: a white round-neck T-shirt, tucked in just so; a pair of jeans we think hail from Re/done, the label that takes Levi’s and, well, redoes them. Looks like nothing much? To us, this is everything. VB is transmitting a heap of messages, from, ‘I’m not that predictable,’ to ‘Check out my undiluted confidence (I threw on jeans and a tee for my spotlight moment, no biggie),’ as well as heralding the return of all-american classics and skewering the root of fashion democracy in the process. Like Lupita and Kendall, she rocks this look. And so should you!
