The real reason women aren’t sharing

their maternity leave (2 October) echoed conversations I’ve had with friends since having my son 10 months ago. My husband and I would have loved to have shared childcare, but there was no way we could lose his salary and survive on statutory pay for so long. It’s so, so important to have dad at home helping out, bonding with baby and saving mum’s sanity. The Government and businesses need to listen to parents and make changes. It’s sadly too late for us, but hopefully not for others to share the fabulous joy of parental leave. Sandy
