We’ve got so much time for
EVER WONDERED what the Queen would look like in a crystal Gucci body stocking? Or Mary Berry in full-look Burberry? How about Donald Trump in Off-white boots? (Don’t pretend you’re not curious.) Thanks to @freddiemade – the mega-lol Insta handiwork of London-based designer Freddie Smithson – wonder no more.
Proof that, contrary to popular opinion, fashion doesn’t take itself too seriously, Freddie’s Instagram collages, which he describes as ‘simple work, that’s just a bit of fun!’ transport unexpected celebs into high-fash scenarios – to hilarious effect. Kitsch, delightfully odd and seriously surreal, posts promptly go viral every time Freddie uploads them. Case in point? Last week’s collage of the Olsen twins transported into the new Balenciaga menswear Pre-fall ’2018 lookbook, which had, like, everyone in fashion giggling and ’gramming.
‘I loved the new Balenciaga campaign, it’s so weirdly fun,’ Freddie tells us of his latest triumph. ‘So I just thought, what would make it even weirder still? I mean, the Olsen twins on Segways, isn’t that a world everyone wants to live in?’ Absolutely.
