FOR TROPHY TRAINERS

MYTH # 1 ABOUT FASHION PEOPLE: they live in wince-worthy heels. In reality, even the most high-maintenance editor is more likely to be found sporting decidedly low-maintenance trainers. But while wearing them might signify effortlessness, finding the ones that are right for now can be anything but; the most in-demand styles often sell out in a flash.

Thank goodness, then, for Unlaced, Nike’s new tailored-to-women shopping platform, launching this week. The curated edit will include customisable options alongside reissues of sell-out styles, and collaborations such as the Off-white Icons collection, which has previously only been available in men’s sizes. We advise you to be quick off the mark (seriously, go!).

But it’s an ’80s classic that’s enjoying fashion sneaker status at the moment: the Nike Air Force 1. Building on the hype of this season’s souped-up eek sneaks (the clompy, deliberately ugly trainers the fash pack have gone gaga for), the retro style and similar clean-lined, thick-soled models from the likes of Veja and Eytys are now enjoying a resurgence in popularity. The real deal versions on which the catwalk riffs, these come in at £79.95 – instead of over £500, as the Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga haute sneakers do. (Myth #2 about fashion people busted: they don’t always wear shoes that cost a month’s rent.) And the way to wear them? In box-fresh all-white with anything but sportswear, naturally. nike.com/unlaced
