WE’RE GAGA FOR GAGA AGAIN!

-

10LADIES AND gentleman, welcome back Lady Gaga. After a brief hiatus into the world of normcore (well, by Gaga standards), our favourite extrovert is back doing what she does best: indulging in a spot of sartorial showing off. And as well we know, nobody does showing off quite like Gaga, the reigning queen of effortful dressing. Viva la diva!

Out and about in New York last week, the singer was back to her performative best, repping full-look, high-maintenance, all-eyes-on-me glamour with all the confidence of a woman who’s never heard the word ‘understated’.

So how does the new-old Gaga look? No dash to the deli to fashion a dress out of cold cuts ( yet), instead she’s channelling an immaculate, ultraladylike look – on steroids. Wiggle dresses, peroxide beehive and nifty top-handle bags portray the hyper-femme mood.

Having toyed with the constructs of celebrity over and over again, Gaga – a performance artist to the core – knows that Gaga is the most powerful role she can play now. Duly, all her sartorial calling cards are also accounted for: PVC and leather! Outlandish proportions! How-does-she-walkin- those platforms! (Extra points, too, for championing emerging names like Mola Walker and Giuseppe di Morabito, alongside big hitters like Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana.) A natural born performer, she knows how to keep her audience interested – displaying 12 looks in five days. Needless to say, we’ve gone Gaga for it.
