I was really touched when reading ‘ I gave birth as a widow’ (27 Aug). I’m six months pregnant with my first child and although my husband and I are very excited, our joy is tinged with sadness. We’ve lost family members too; in the week I found out I was pregnant, my father-in-law died suddenly and my only sister died a few years ago of a very aggressive cancer. I have been struggling in the last few months but Kate’s article has inspired me to see the happiness I have to look forward to. She focused on the positives of her children and that proves what a strong woman she is. From now on, I’m going to find joy wherever I can, just like Kate. Sarah
