of fevered speculation, Lady Gaga finally confirmed her engagement to talent agent Christian Carino last week, at Elle’s 25th Annual Women in Hollywood event in Los Angeles.

Gushing over ‘my fiancé Christian’ during an emotional speech, the singer reflected on her transformational role in A Star Is Born, saying, ‘Never within my wildest dreams would I think my life would become what it has.’

Insiders inform Grazia that not only has Gaga, 32, met her romantic match in Christian, 49, but he’s also become her closest career confidant, quietly masterminding a campaign for the Grammy-winning singer to take home her first Oscar statuette at the 91st Academy Awards next year.

‘From the minute they met, Christian has been Gaga’s biggest supporter, her agent and her lover,’ said a source. ‘He’s an industry veteran who has for years been behind the most powerful

talent agency in Hollywood – Creative Artists Agency [ home to stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Cate Blanchett and George Clooney] – and he’s been instrumental in coaching Gaga for her big movie star moment.’

Gaga – who was previously engaged to actor Taylor Kinney, 37, before they split in July 2016 – was first seen getting close to Christian at a Kings of Leon concert in January last year, with their relationship seemingly turning serious overnight.

A month later, Christian was supporting Gaga at her biggest concert to date, performing at the Super Bowl LI Halftime show at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, just shortly before she began filming A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper. Christian has written alongside pictures of Gaga on Instagram, ‘Believe in fairy tales’ and ‘She is the cure’.

‘Christian immediately became ingratiated in Gaga’s professional life, offering her advice and preparing her for the role,’ said the source. ‘He went on the road with her during her Joanne World Tour, and was by her side in the studio when she was cutting songs from the soundtrack.

‘It’s long been a dream for her to win an Oscar, particularly after losing out to Sam Smith in the Best Song category in 2016 and Christian is doing everything he can to make her dream become a reality.’

Christian has two young daughters, Isabella and Lola, from a previous marriage that ended in 2015, and according to our insider, Gaga is said to have bonded with the girls. But first, an Oscar for Best Song or even Best Actress is top priority. ‘Christian has a shrewd strategy in place, which involves Gaga appearing on all the right talk shows, doing the correct amount of industry press and attending all the right events that will see her rub shoulders with her new movie star peers,’ said the source. ‘ They’ll both be working overtime to win over Academy voters and make it happen – Christian wants to help make Gaga’s star shine brighter than ever and many are joking that it’s a case of life imitating art.’
