And bargains spell big news for British shoppers: last year, 59% of us either shopped or browsed on the day. ‘Black Friday has continued to grow and is now undeniably a firm fixture in the retail calendar,’ says Tom Slide, senior retail analyst at Mintel, who adds that consumers are becoming increasingly savvy. ‘Retailers and brands will need to be much more creative in how they use the event to drive genuine engagement.’
