- BY HANNAH COATES

there is a time, between nightfall and before the break of dawn, when the inky velvet of the night sky envelopes all in its path. You’ll find only an alabaster crescent moon and the glittering purple sky studded with stars for company and there’s a whisper of magic beyond every shadow and around every corner. The scene-stealer? GHOST’S Deep Night eau de toilette, a fragrance that smells as if it were made to accompany the mysteries of the night.

Deep Night was created 17 years ago to celebrate the mysterious nature of women, a notion that is even more relevant today. It took several months to concoct and the perfumer behind it, Michel Almaraic, used iconic, raw materials and more modern olfactory ingredients to make a scent that remains iconic and original to this day.

Top notes of peach, Indian Rose and rich Belle du Nuit – a flower that only blooms at nightfall – combine with sensual sambac jasmine, warm musk and aphrodisiac vanilla notes, as well as oriental base notes of cedarwood and sandalwood, to form a seductive scent that gives its wearer the exact amount of je ne sais quois that befits the allure of that magical twilight hour. It’s as invigorating as it is addictive, as sensual as it is confident, and as perfect for date night as it is a girls’ night out. GHOST Deep Night EDT, £36 for 50ml; theperfumeshop.com

WHERE THERE IS a cocktail party invite, fairy light-laden trees and the kind of diffused winter light that makes every selfie extra flattering, we’re sure to find some reason to buy a whole new make-up bag. This party season, we’re coveting a glitter eye: start by working Transition shade in Wet n Wild Colour Eyeshadow Quads in Walking On Egg Shells all over lids, blending into the crease, then blend the pink base shade on your top eyelid, out towards your temples with a blending brush. For the glitter, swipe Rimmel Wonder Swipe Instafamous Eyeliner over eyes and pat in. Add a lick of Smashbox Always On Liquid Liner along your lash line and No7 Lash Extender Mascara on lashes to finish the look.

The key to nailing grown-up glitter is to keep the rest of your face beautifully bare. So let your natural skin tone shine through by using fingers to work Smashbox’s pore-blurring Photo Finish Foundation Primer into skin and then apply Maybelline’s The Eraser Eye Concealer where needed. You’ll love IT Cosmetics You Sculpted! Contouring Palette to subtly sculpt cheekbones – then dust Benefit Dandelion Twinkle Highlighter Face Powder on the tops of cheekbones and across temples. For a delicate lip, use Elf Lip Oil in Pink Kiss. And for the ultimate skin finisher, L’oréal Paris Infallible Fixing Mist will help make-up stay put, no matter how much dancing!
