At the end of the day… Molly Goddard

On my way home from work, I read my book on the Tube. I don’t like the Tube very much so I avoid it as much as I can, but at the moment I’m reading In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. It’s quite scary, but I’m hooked – although I never miss my stop.

I walk past a Boots, so I quite often go in and buy bath salts and shit. I’m normally thinking about what I’m doing that evening, whether I’m going to buy food, meet my friend, or my boyfriend, go to the gym. I also don’t think about much – I just like walking and people-watching.

I’m pretty good at

switching off after a day at work. I normally get changed into a tracksuit or a dressing gown when I get in, put on a wash and maybe start cooking. I’m not organised about food shopping because I’m not in a massive amount. If I am in, I’ll either get a takeaway (a good Indian or laksa), go to Waitrose or there’s a really good Lebanese supermarket near me so I’ll buy vegetables from there.

I normally start cooking

and then my boyfriend takes over, he’s better at it than I am. I’m quite impatient so I’m not the kind of person who would spend ages making some incredible meal. I am a good cook, but a bit lazy. I like making salads and things that are quite instant.

My relationship with

alcohol is more, more, more! I do avoid drinking if I’m having a night in. Although, sometimes I have a beer.

I love the ebay app and have lots of Whatsapp groups constantly beeping, but I try not to look at my phone in the evenings that much. I feel like I’m a work hours texter. My phone is in my bedroom, but on the other side of the room. I have a radio alarm clock set to Radio 4. Sometimes it’s a bit depressing when it’s the news, but I like it.

I normally watch a film before bed, but I’m kind of running out of things on Netflix – there’s not really anything else apart from Marvel films. I either watch something really trashy or something weird – an unusual film can be quite challenging.

My night-time routine would be nothing without something that smells good and soothing. I have an incense I really like called Astier De Villatte, so I burn that, and someone gave me a 100% natural lavender oil and I spray that around.

I’m quite strict about taking off

my make-up. I try and get into bed at 11.30pm so I normally go to sleep at about 12. I’m getting worse recently, but I am a pretty good sleeper. If I can’t sleep I listen to The Archers or a mindfulness podcast. Once, when I was tossing and turning, my boyfriend took me to

Covent Garden flower market at 5am and then Regency Cafe (in Westminster) for a fry-up. No sleep, but a fun morning.

I don’t have many dreams, but when I do they’re just uneventful, everyday dreams. They’re so boring!

I never snore and get angry if someone else does. I’m usually the little spoon – but probably more like a clingy octopus. I spend a lot of time lying down – in bed, in the bath, on the sofa.
