Hello? Is there anyone to date now, asks Adele…

-

WHEN YOU’VE GOT a £200 million fortune, one Oscar, nine Brits, 15 Grammys and you’re one of the most famous women in the world, finding a new romance is even harder than it is for us civilians (and that’s saying something).

Indeed, the singer herself seemed to allude to having a turbulent, emotional time recently, when she posted a witty meme on Instagram last week, alongside two pictures of herself, one crying and one looking bad-ass. The caption read, ‘When you catch yourself in your feelings then remember who you are!’

Adele announced she was separating from her husband of three years, Simon Konecki, with whom she has a son, Angelo, two weeks ago. However, as Grazia reported last week, the statement was a public acknowledgment of a relationship that’s been all but over for well over a year.

But now friends say that Adele is exploring the intimidating world of dating – for the first time in her life. ‘Adele has never been a dater,’ explains the friend. ‘She is either single or in a serious relationship: there hasn’t ever been much in between.’

According to the source, Adele has signed up to exclusive, members-only dating site Raya (of which other celebrity users are said to be Drew Barrymore, Sharon Stone and Amy Schumer, who is rumoured to have met her husband Chris Fischer on the app) in a quest to broaden her romantic horizons. ‘It’s a big move for Adele: she was convinced to do it by her friends. She goes out so rarely and gets recognised almost everywhere she goes. It seems like the most feasible way to date.’

And perhaps Adele’s adventures in online dating are already proving successful. Last week, it was reported that Adele, 31, had been seen hooking up with an unidentified man at a bar in New York. Plus, Adele’s pal Jennifer Lawrence, with whom the singer had a raucous night out in Manhattan last month, is said to be keen to play matchmaker for her.

Before getting together with Simon, who she met through mutual friend Ed Sheeran in 2011, Adele had been resolutely single for four years. At the time of writing her second album 21, Adele was reported to have fallen for photographer Alex Sturrock – and though she has never confirmed it, it’s thought that she wrote Someone Like You about her love for him.

Now, Adele has told friends she is ‘starting from scratch’ with her love life but that she’s looking forward to something new – and finding happiness again.
