who can forget the strut, the pose, that white suit? We may not have been born in 1977, when Saturday Night Fever blazed a trail across the big screen, but that image of John Travolta in a white suit is seared into our collective consciousness. Such is the power of movies’ fashion mavericks. It was a look that spawned a thousand copies and ignited disco fever. Without SNF, brands like Halpern – enjoying a disco fashion revival right now – would have been unthinkable.

Another cult classic – 1995’s Clueless – gave us Cher (Alicia Silverstone) who may have single-handedly revived the all-american preppy look of plaids, stripes and ladylike blouses we’re still rocking over 20 years later. David Bowie, meanwhile, was already a style icon known for pushing fashion boundaries when he starred in 1986’s cult fantasy

Labyrinth. His white frill shirt, leather waistcoat and crazy long hair were only upstaged by Jennifer Connelly’s breathtaking new romantic costumes, which perfectly captured the biggest trend of the era.

And fast-forward to last year’s smash hit

Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic of Freddie Mercury. Decades before gender fluidity became accepted, he was subverting accepted norms with a flamboyant style that encompassed everything from floaty feminine tops to S&m-style PVC trousers.

So for some serious style inspiration – as well as top-notch drama and romance, tears and laughter – let Sky Cinema entertain you with iconic movies like Saturday Night Fever, Clueless, Almost Famous, Bohemian Rhapsody

and many more…
