DO IT LIKE A DANE… THE NAMES TO KNOW

-

BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN A favourite of the Danish street-stylers, Helle Hestehave and Rikke Baumgarten’s is another sweet-spot label that excels at creating pieces to get you noticed, without trying too hard. The unity of festivals is the starting point for A/W ’20 (very on-brand for CPFW), captured through a sleek ’70s lens. Add knee-high boots and tartan tailoring to your wishlist now.

CECILIE BAHNSEN Cecilie’s blooming, butter-wouldn’tmelt dresses make romantics out of all of us. Now, it seems, Cecilie’s girls are looking moodier, not that that’s a bad thing. Corseted bodices, technical outerwear and a darker palette offset the sweetness with a hint of subversion for A/W ’20. The way to wear like a Dane? Over jeans or with trainers, naturally.

SAKS POTTS

Fact: you cannot go to a winter fashion week anywhere and avoid Saks Potts coats, which now have official cult status. Unveiling the Pre-fall 2020 collection, Catherine Saks and Barbara Potts are embracing a sleeker ‘90s sensibility, swapping out lurid colours and logos for a more pared-back style. The outerwear, of course, is still ultra-desirable.

HOLZWEILER

OK, Holzweiler is technically a Norwegian brand, but with its confident grasp of mindful style the brand exemplifies the Danish spirit. Starting life as a knitwear label, Holzweiler’s USP is to deliver clothes that are equal parts cosy and cool. A/W ’20 highlights include the ultra-chunky cable knits (peak hygge) and stretch-pleat lemon co-ords.

STINE GOYA

Nobody encapsulates the anything goes, eclectic spirit of modern Danish dressing better than Stine Goya. Her fans subscribe to a more-is-more mantra which, for A/W ’20, means zebra print, candy hues and patterned tights – all together, if that’s your jam.
